Whether you’ve recently brought a new addition into your home or your child just hit another milestone, celebrate by picking the perfect paint for his or her bedroom.
Don’t be afraid to branch out from the traditional boy-centric blues and girly pinks. Try gender-neutral horizontal or vertical stripes to add a splash of color. Add them to the entire room or try applying to just one wall.
If you’re picking a theme, try nature landscapes or wildlife scenes using greens, blues, tans and other natural colors. Forests or oceans are a great place to start. That way, the room that can be used for multiple children regardless of gender.
Or, if your child is set on having pink or blue (like many are), choose an accent wall to paint as boldly as they please. At least you’ll only have to deal with one wall instead of four.
For even more fun, add chalk paint to a wall and put a frame around it. The kids can make “framed art,” which will let their creative imaginations run wild.
No matter what age, your child’s room color can be a great way to get them excited about being in their room. Spending time together choosing the paint and design—and maybe even actually painting if you’re brave enough—can be a wonderful way to spend the day.
